Forgotten Childhood

 Picture Gallery

The idyllic earliest years of my childhood were shattered by World War II.  The proximity of the Nadleśnictwo Nikor residence to the Belarussian village endangered our life until our deportation to the Soviet Union in March 1940.  Once in the Ural region we inexplicably managed to survive, as well as later in Kazakhstan.  Our miraculous arrival in Persia in 1942 was followed by the hazardous crossing of the Pacific Ocean in 1943 on our journey to Mexico.  Finally, in 1951 I entered the United States as a refugee.
